Use & Application
Diphenylamine acts as a key raw material for manufacturing rubber antioxidants, polymerization inhibitors and vulcanization accelerators, protecting rubber and elastomer products from thermal and oxidative aging during processing and service life. It serves as a critical intermediate to synthesize multiple acid dyes and disperse dyes including Acid Yellow G, Acid Orange IV and Disperse Blue 5R. It is widely used to produce antioxidants for lubricating oil, grease and plastic stabilizers to delay oxidation degradation of oil and polymer materials. In propellant and explosive industries, it works as stabilizer for nitrocellulose and smokeless powder, capturing decomposition products and extending storage lifetime. In laboratory analysis, diphenylamine is used as redox indicator and color reagent for detection of nitrates, chlorates and quantitative DNA testing. It can also be applied as intermediate for veterinary drugs and pesticides, and used in post-harvest treatment to prevent superficial scald of apples during cold storage.
