Properties of Cycloheptanone CAS 502-42-1
Cycloheptanone, also known as cork ketone, is a colorless oily liquid with peppermint odor. Cycloheptanone can be oxidized with nitric acid to produce pimelic acid. It is obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of nickel at 175°C or reduction with sodium in boiling ethanol. Cycloheptanol reacts with bromine in carbon tetrachloride to obtain 2,7-dibromocycloheptanone.
